SKYLINE MONTEREY — October 29, 2026. A small bridge-maintenance project at Skyline Forest Drive and Holman Highway appears in Monterey’s 2026 review of older neighborhood work. The project, NIP2323, carried a listed available balance of $21,126 in the city’s January 21 budget inventory.
What residents originally wanted repaired
The Monterey Vista Neighborhood Association’s archived Skyline project description calls for repairing spalling concrete, resurfacing a bridge parapet and applying graffiti-resistant finishes. The association also describes removing graffiti and refinishing the underside of the bridge. This is an aesthetic and concrete-surface maintenance request, distinct from larger creek-stabilization projects in Wyndemere Canyon.
Why the public documents need clarification
The city’s project card labels NIP2323 Forest Drive/Holman Highway Bridge Restoration but its body repeats a drainage-swale reconstruction description that does not appear to match the bridge title or the neighborhood association’s parapet-repair scope. California58 is flagging that inconsistency rather than presenting the copied description as a verified bridge design. Residents should request the engineer-approved scope before assuming exactly what would be built.
A budget balance isn’t a finished repair
In the city’s January file, the $21,126 was a prior-year balance under potential review; the item had 84 community votes and a historical rank of 23. The documents do not establish that repair work was performed or that the project was canceled by October. Separate funding and procurement actions would be necessary to confirm either outcome.
How to follow the bridge
For updates, use the exact project number NIP2323 when contacting Monterey Engineering. Do not mistake this site for the Wyndemere creek log-drop structures or the upper Veterans Drive trail work elsewhere in Skyline Monterey.
